EP Review: The Final Clause Of Tacitus – The Oxygen Is Killing You (Self Released)

‘The Oxygen is Killing You’ is the fourth EP from Reading-based funk-rock four-piece The Final Clause of Tacitus due for release on June 23rd 2023.

It’s a unique sound that emanates from within The Final Clause of Tacitus. Which probably won’t be too much of a surprise to those with a penchant for funk rock. The surprise part of The Final Clause of Tacitus is that they’re much more varied than that. Blending in elements of skate-punk, hip-hop, metal, and more. It’s not quite kitchen sink stuff but it’s not far off.

A lot of ideas, a lot of creativity, and a lot of talent means we have an EP that is wonderfully infectious and groovy throughout. As likely to get a club bouncing up and down as it is to get a mosh-pit going. That alone makes it worth checking out, even if some of the elements aren’t as praise-worthy as others.

The thing is, there’s so much variety in each individual track, that everyone will finds something they love. It’s no major surprise to know that The Final Clause of Tacitus’ stock has been rising over the past few years and that isn’t likely to change once this EP worms its way into ears.
