EP Review: The Dahmers – Creepiest Creep (Lövely Records)
On April 27th 2018, Lövely Records will release Creepiest Creep by horror punks The Dahmers.
With a tornado of influences like garage punk, classic rock, and 60’s pop the band truly is a Frankenstein’s monster of music. This is a band who are going their own way with colourful contrasts while still keeping the main essence of what they are all about. With their catchy tunes The Dahmers suck you into their music and to a world filled with darkness.
Bouncy horror pop-punk isn’t something that often comes our way so there is no doubting the excitment going into this four-track EP from The Dahmers.
…and thankfully they don’t let us down. This is fun, tongue in cheek and catchy music that has a little bit of The Misfits, The Distillers and The Hellacopters about it. Like the soundtrack to a cheesy drive-in B-movie or an episode of Scooby Doo.
The opening title track will put a big smile on the face with its infectious beat and retro feel while Reoccurring Dreams ups the punkier edge to a huge degree. If you’re not sold on the upbeat-horror credentials of The Dahmers after the first two songs then the sing-along of Without a Face and rock and roll brilliance of Kiss of Dario should do it.
Somehow The Dahmers have crafted a sound that feels like their own, you can hear the influences but the band still come across as their own thing. It’s a throwback but a god-damn fun one!
