EP Review: The Crux – Time and Space (Self Released)
Northern Irish thrash and stoner metal band, The Crux will release their new EP, Time and Space on April 22nd, 2022.
With more hooks than you might expect from a band that is described as thrash and stoner, The Crux immediately get the blood pumping and heart pounding with opener, Being. A bevy of kicking riffs, powerful percussion and imposing vocals ensures this is one hell of a memorable start.
Can it get any better than that? Of course, it can as the title track sees The Crux provide one of the EP’s strongest examples of heavy, stoner groove and head-banging rhythm. A fantastic statement of intent from The Crux and the sort of track you play to someone to convince them of the quality this band has.
Although, there’s no denying that Cornered and Your Misery Will Kill Us All will certainly work too. Both see The Crux getting heavier and faster for a pairing with thrashier tones, but blended well with the stoner side of the band.
It’s simple. This is a brilliant EP that is infinitely listenable.
