EP Review: Tableau Mort – Ignorance, Heresy, and Malice (Self Released)
London-based extreme metal outfit Tableau Mort have released a new EP entitled ‘Ignorance, Heresy, and Malice.’ The release features re-recorded versions of singles that were released in 2020, along with a piano version of the track ‘Malice: The Creation of Tragedy.’ This EP also marks the final appearance of the original drummer, George Bratosin, who left the band earlier this year.
The EP is available only in digital format and can be streamed on all major platforms.
Any excuse to re-listen to music from the blackened extreme metal band Tableau Mort should be grabbed. So, this new EP is a great way to re-familiarise, if it’s been a while. Featuring three re-recorded tracks and an acoustic offering, Ignorance, Heresy, and Malice is a hefty reminder of this band’s impressive abilities to sound suitably epic and pour scorn on the mind through the medium of heavy, black metal.
Once again, collaborating with opera singer Laura Delogu across three tracks on the EP (Ignorance MMXXIII, Heresy MMXXIII, and Malice MMXXIII alongside Alin Leon Hillel). This release is soaked in heretical heaviness and epic blackened grandeur. Nowhere is that better encapsulated then with Malice: The Re-creation of Tragedy. A track that has wonderous piano melody as performed by guest musician Marius “Roje” Varavoi.
Tableau Mort continue to grow in stature and while it is a farewell to one member, it certainly shows that the future for this band is as bright as ever.
