EP Review: Suffocate Faster – This Is The Way Vol. 1 (Smartpunk Records)

Back with their first release since 2006, straight-edge hardcore band Suffocate Faster will release their new EP (and one of two being released this year), ‘This Is the Way Vol. 1’ on June 2nd, 2023, via Smartpunk Records.

Welcome back Suffocate Faster, it’s good to have them here. Especially when they’re on such form. Spitting hardcore fury and causing some pit carnage with a pair of meaty hits. Sure, the EP is over almost as quickly as it begun, but few bands could leave such an impact in such a short amount of time. Both tracks offer up a crunchy cacophony of hardcore heaviness that will make the listener gurn.

Suffocate Faster are sounding particularly pissed off here, at their most aggressive sounding, and touching upon topics such as the straight-edge lifestyle and criminal rehabilitation in the modern world. It’s powerful stuff and makes you hunger for more. Roll on the next EP and the extremely bright looking future that Suffocate Faster has.
