EP Review: Steal the City – The Time We Needed (Redemption Records)
Released on April 13th 2018, The Time We Needed is the debut EP from Sheffield-based, dynamic hard rock 4 piece, Steal The City.
The Time We Needed is six tracks of hard rock/punk rock. Bouncy tunes with a nice bit of crunch in the riffs & some wicked gang-vocal chants. Early on Steal the City set themselves apart from the modern melo-punk rock efforts with Manufactured and Wallflower. The former drops a surprisingly heavy breakdown and the latter provides deep bass groove and godly riffs to swear by.
A great start is followed up the high tempo punk bite of Simon Says, the huge riffs that make up So, The Thing Is… and the exciting combination of catchiness and hard rock groove within Intoxicated.
The excellent EP finishes up Beating Heart, a track with a fair bit more modern rock sensibilities about, in particular the chorus. No bad thing as it’s still a great track but the strength within The Time We Needed certainly sits with the previous 5 tracks.
