EP Review: Rancorous – Stealth Dominion (Self Released)

Thrash/death metal New England band, Rancorous are back with the follow up to March 2018’s demo, Into the Nuclear Fire. Stealth Dominion is out on May 25th 2019.

Whereas the previous release was three tracks of screeching and roaring metal, here we have four tracks of screeching and roaring metal! Not a lot to sink our teeth into but still very exciting to have new Rancorous material.

You can read our review of Into the Nuclear Fire here.

Just like Into the Nuclear Fire, Stealth Dominion is a raging hailstorm of heavy death/thrash metal. Rancorous don’t hold back and don’t hang about firing off the title track at a super speed all with their recognisable rawness, the thing that makes them so appealing. Props to the wild guitar solo that comes at the end too.

Cold Revenge and Prime Sacrilege are even shorter, the former only just passing the two minute mark and the latter coming in under. Both continue the super intense heaviness delivering memorable circle-pit percussion and wailing guitars that cut through the rawness like a knife through butter.

To wrap up an excellent showing we get Revelator. No abrupt changes, no surprises just a stonkingly good heavy track. We said it last year and we will say it again, keep a close eye on this band.
