EP Review: Queasy – Queasy (Self Released)
Queasy are a 4-piece funk/rock band from Manchester, England, who incorporate the spirit of that famous city with their electrifying live performances and original recorded material.
Having shared a stage with the likes of Idles, Hands Off Gretel, Avalanche Party, Bloody Knees and Ask My Bull at festivals and gigs around the UK, Queasy have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting new bands to emerge in recent years. The buzz surrounding their recent recordings, and blistering live sets, has certainly caught the attention of music industry insiders and taste-makers alike.
Queasy will release their highly anticipated self titled EP on the 29th March 2019.
The feel-good EP of the year? Queasy sure make a statement with their self-titled release. It’s groovy, bubbly, joyful and booty-shaking rock kicking off with the energetic rhythm of Jackdaw. A strong chorus, an attention-grabbing vocal performance and funky riffs really stand out. Especially when it fires up.
Queasy then shows that they have an ear for melody too with Play Stupid Games Win Stupid Prizes. A moodier track, the meandering riffs alongside more mellow vocals and simplified beat works well.
Finally we have Sunshine which builds on what the previous song did albeit with a bit more fire in the belly. Like rising vomit, the verses gurgle and build, warning you of the impending eruption. At least here it’s a lot more enjoyable.
Make sure you check out Queasy, they’ve crafted a very good EP.
