EP Review: Psykopath – Primal Instinct (Loyal Blood Records)
Psykopath is a thrash metal band from Norway’s rainy west coast city of Bergen. Inspired by bands like Testament, Exodus, Megadeth, Nuclear Assault and many other bands from the golden age of thrash metal, the band plays a loud and aggressive thrash metal with verve and attitude, and with the intent of holding the thrash-banner high.
The ‘Primal Instinct’ EP, to be released on Loyal Blood Records marks the first official release from the young thrash outfit. It is out on the 24th August 2018.
Looking to make an impression in just 10 minutes with this EP, Psykopath do just that with three tracks of no-nonsense and an in your face thrash attack. Fast, heavy and so enjoyable. Scorching guitar riffs, screeching solos, thumping bass and drums while the vocals pour fury on everything.
There really isn’t a lot to say except if you’re a fan of the old-school Slayer/Testament style thrash then you’re really going to enjoy Primal Instinct. It’s exciting, head-banging goodness with just enough sharpness to make you take a deep breath before the next track hits.
