It’s a new dawn for the technically proficient and progressive death metal band, Persefone, as this EP is the first record to feature new vocalist, Daniel Rodríguez Flys. Who brings a voice that is scathing and barbaric, but with some really strong and heavy range.

Delivering some intense shouts on the introductory track of Sounds and Vessels. The EP starting off with spacey ambience, before the chaos erupts and One Word brings the wonder of Persefone tech and prog death. A sound that is enhanced by layers of melodeath.

Chances are, you’ll be sold already, but it’s The Equable and the title track that really sees this band hit their stride. Both tracks are richly detailed and vigorously intense with all manner of heavy delights. Persefone are at their best when they throw caution to the wind and really dig into the guts of what they are capable of, tech and prog wise, and both these tracks are fine examples of this. Albeit, with the inescapable savagery of their anthemic death metal ways, and the massive melodic vein that runs through everything.

It’s over far too soon, even though Persefone don’t leave anyone feeling short, such is the depth to each track. Ending things with a track that is all about haunting atmosphere, epic melody, and moving clean vocals. It’s called Abyssal Communication, and it’s proof that Persefone’s future is sounding really freaking bright.
