EP Review: Paraphilia – Primordium of Sinister Butchery (Self Released)
Primordium of Sinister Butchery is the debut EP from Pacific Northwestern duo Paraphilia, a new death metal project featuring SP and KRP of Maestus, Arkhum, and formerly, Pillorian. It will be released on April 23rd 2021.
What more needs to be said than… holy shit.
This EP’s trio of original tracks are the utter carnage, face-melting and vomit-inducing variety of death metal that we all know and love. Riffs as thick and chunky as what comes out of a blocked up sewer. Drums and bass showcasing about as much control as a sticky fingered kid being told not to touch anything and vocals with all the might of a raging torrent of water that’s just burst through a dam.
Paraphilia have one setting: brutal and it is stuck in place.
Even the cover they chose to do sits in that category as the legendary Deicide’s They Are the Children of the Underworld gets an airing here. A frenzied track already, Paraphilia really didn’t need to do much to it and truth be told, they’ve not. It’s got all the fury and speed that the original had and Paraphilia certainly do it justice.
