EP Review: Not My Master – Disobey (Rockshots Records/Extreme Metal Music)
El Paso, Texas’s Not My Master are an aggressive mix of thrash, groove and extreme metal with a touch of Southern Rock. The band are unleashing their new EP ‘Disobey’ on July 6th 2018. It contains 7 tracks including a cover version of Danzig’s ‘How the Gods Kill’.
A pounding drum beat, machine-like riffs and roaring vocals introduce Not My Master and their new EP, Disobey. Acadence is hell of a start that gets the blood pumping and the horns thrown with complete abandon. An exceptional start.
The power they exude is even stronger on Revenge and it’s hard not to love the clean, morose vocal moments as much as the unrelenting heaviness. A contender for the best track on the EP.
Not that there are any that lack impact really. Where’s God Now doesn’t pull any punches, Morning Star is a moody effort that builds slowly towards a thrilling eruption and Lies layers the darkness on heavily.
A cover of Danzig’s How the Gods Kill is a nice touch and Not My Master do the song justice before one of the best EP releases this years ends with the thumping and crushing Consume.
