EP Review: No Worth of Man – What’s Your Damage? (Self Released)
Brit bruisers No Worth of Man will release their blistering new EP, ‘What’s Your Damage?’ on March 8th, 2024.
Every band wants to make an impression with the first song on their new release. To leave you gasping in delight at what you hear. To leave you ecstatic that it’s just the first track of many, and you’re already head over heels with their sound.
Wanting and doing are two different things though, unless you happen to be No Worth of Man, who kick this EP off (following a short intro) with an absolute beast of a track. Called Into the Dirt, it is manic speed and mutilating heaviness, with a layer of stompy groove. It gets the blood pumping and the heart racing to such a degree; you might need to check into A&E.
Is it all downhill from there? Is it f**k. The Hands Resist Him has an even darker and more guttural sound putting it on par with some of the nastier sides of death metal. Then An Unpaintable Soul showcases some more elaborate riffs, tinged with an old school heavy metal vibe, while being undeniably brutal too. A massive amount of credit as to why this track sounds so beastly, has to go to the drumming.
Finally, it’s Mondo Decay and No Worth of Man ensure the strong impression they have left so far only grows with a right old head banger. That sick smile you have on your face? We all have it upon listening to this EP.
