EP Review: Mur.Doc 104 – The Undying (Self Released)

Founded in 2015, Mur.Doc 104 is a 5-piece old-school thrash metal band from Malta influenced by the Bay Area Movement of the 80s, citing bands like Exodus, Death Angel, Forbidden & Hirax as main influences.

Their debut EP ‘The Undying’ was released on March 10th, 2023.

Meet Mur.Doc 104, if you’re a fan of old-school sounding thrash metal then you might have just found your new favourite band.

Featuring four tracks of punchy and pithy thrash noise, Mur.Doc 104 make up for the ‘classic’ touches they have by being incredibly earnest and eager to deliver a memorable head-banging experience. Not only is that admirable, it is also something they are more than capable of doing. The four tracks that make up this EP have weight, paying enthusiastic tribute to the 80’s Bay Area movement, but not sounding dated to the point of irrelevancy.

This is just the start for this band, you can tell. They’re class, so bigger things are sure to be in their future if they continue to showcase themselves with the same amount aplomb as they do here.
