EP Review: Milk Teeth – Go Away (Roadrunner Records)

Having only released their last EP ‘Be Nice’ in July of this year, it’s a surprise to be getting a new EP from UK rock/punk rock band Milk Teeth already. Go Away was released on the 17th November 2017 via Roadrunner Records.

Earmarked by many as one of the next big thing in rock, the pressure doesn’t seem to be getting to Milk Teeth at all.

The upbeat rock rhythm that you associate with Milk Teeth is ever present throughout this short EP. I Stabbed You First’s guitar chug is very ‘by the numbers’ & a mid point drop comes across a bit forced. An uninspiring start that improves slightly on Lillian thanks to some catchy contrasting vocals.

Nearby Catfight is the highlight of the EP though. Bouncy as anything punk-rock has produced in years but with just the right amount of snarl. A track that shows just why Milk Teeth are seen as such a special band.

The longest track of the EP closes things out & is certainly different sounding to what is elsewhere on this EP. A more down-beat rhythm littered with heavy, almost grunge like riffs & a more morose vocal performance.

Go Away is a very half & half release. The first two tracks utterly forgettable while the last two are up there as the best songs Milk Teeth have released!
