EP Review: ManDown – We Want Blood (Self Released)
Composed of guitarist/vocalist Iain Turner and drummer Lawrence Arnold, the two musicians at the heart of ManDown have been tight friends since childhood. Influenced by the sound and attitude of bands like Rage Against the Machine, We Are 68, Black Peaks, The Prodigy, and Hundred Reasons, their debut EP We Want Blood is released on July 9th 2020.
With the squeal of feedback, the thumping beat of the drum and the punkish snarl of vocals, ManDown make themselves known with Try or Die. A sizzling little number that shows ManDown has a bit more to offer as it develops into a rockier and catchier listen.
Tick Tock has even more of that varied edge about it, the rhythm stop-start but still proving to be an exceptional foot-tapper. Before the penultimate offering that is Kiss brings the groove in the guitars and the title track close out a strong latter half. The heavy snarl of the title being shouted as much as sung is class.
This will make some waves when it lands.
