EP Review: Loathfinder – The Great Tired Ones (Godz Ov War Productions)

Polish band, Loathfinder are due to release their new EP, The Great Tired Ones. It is out on April 30th 2017 via Godz Ov War Productions.

Loathfinder 1

The opening song, Genetic Gloom mix of heavy slow booming riffs & slight melodic moments of guitar strumming is a start that pours the blackened metal on you like filthy, sticky treacle. It’s a great start, dripping evil sounding rhythm & dropping a really good solo in at the end.

This is an EP all about laying on the heavy doom hooks & black metal riffs. Its dark & oppressive sound is heightened by the growling vocals. Feast on My Entrails offers something a little different with moments of spoken word wonderfully backed up with nice rhythm especially when it begins to speed up.

The Great Tired Ones is a really great slab of doom but isn’t always filled with exciting moments. Scents of Regression is the least memorable of the 4 tracks even if it does curl its way around your brain like a snake.

The EP ends on a stunning 10 minute epic, The Great Tired Ones. It builds atmosphere with its eerie sounds at the start before moving into a nice slow &a sexy beat with some great guitar wailing. It’s a finish that leaves you begging for more from Loathfinder, a future great within the doom/blackened metal family.
