EP Review: Jugular – As Birth Becomes Life Becomes Death (Self Released)
Playing traditional heavy metal with hints of thrash and punk, As Birth Becomes Life Becomes Death is the new EP from Jugular, out now.
After listening to As Birth Becomes Life Becomes Death the one thought that remains constant is where have Jugular been hiding?
Six tracks of roaring and rollicking heavy metal to turn even the most ardent shoe-gazer into a whirlwind of denim and hair. The four-piece excel in the riff department but some really interesting vocals makes them stand out all the more. Angel of Darkness is an absolute belter that burrows its way into the mind and refuses to leave.
It’s almost topped by the sharper and more frantic And into Dust, the band really turning the infectious rhythm up a notch. Both this and the former are the perfect advertisements of just what Jugular are capable of.
It’s not like the rest of the EP is lacking though as There’s a Body for the Soul (Unshackled Me) delivers moody melody, The Passenger’s rocked up rhythm excites and Dying to be Alive goes for the ‘jugular’ with it’s trash-based edge.
An awesome EP!
