EP Review: Iron Tomb – Vile Retribution (Self Released)
Based out of the home of metal, Birmingham, England. Iron Tomb, play an axe wielding old school style of death metal mixed with blood curdling cross over riffs. Drawing inspiration from a combination of old school local heroes along with the trailblazers of the 90’s Florida scene. Looking to charge onto the thriving UK death metal scene with their soul crushing debut EP ‘Vile Retribution’. Lyrical themes of swords and sorcery explore the battles of an evil fantasy world as it burns to the ground. Take your place upon thy steed and ride into battle against the greatest enemy.
Vile Retribution will be released on June 3rd, 2022.
With a nice meaty and heavy sound, Iron Tomb combine fantasy with death metal and of course, they are very close bedfellows. Across the four tracks of this EP, the expulsion of heaviness will make the hairs on your body stand up straight and encourage you to get battle-ready.
Drawing deeply from the well of old-school death, Iron Tomb really add their own chunky and bilious edge. Froom the very start, Pagan Rule gets the blood pumping and the head-banging. An instant hit of heavyweight death metal gold and the bar set.
Wretched Dread has a good go at overcoming it with its array of venomous riffs and contemptuous vocals. Followed by the ferocious speed of Death Immortal, a track that is akin to being hit by an 18-wheeler going at 100 miles per hour.
Sounds pretty damn good, doesn’t it? Any further proof needed comes in the form of the title track. Where a stompy beat makes the gurn and grimace that little bit stronger.
A thumping debut EP. Based off this, Iron Tomb’s future is looking very exciting indeed.
