EP Review: Incursion – The Hunter (No Remorse Records)
Originally active between 1982 and 1986, Incursion returned in 2018 and now bring their NWOTH sound to the masses with their debut EP, The Hunter. Out on December 11th 2020 via No Remorse Records.
There’s always room for another slice of traditional heavy metal, especially when it’s exactly how the band describe themselves. Even more so when their brief early life was right during that period. They may not have been around long enough to get a record out but now; Incursion are clearly making up for lost time with a frantic set of catchy head-bangers.
As classic as a complete denim outfit, as dusty as your Dad’s old leather jacket and as energetic as your drunk Aunt upon hearing her favourite Maiden track at a party, The Hunter nails the 80’s metal vibe it is going for.
Grooving flurries of riffs, punchy rhythm, hectic guitar solos, lavish vocals with just a touch of gruffness at the back, lyrics designed to pump you up for mythological battles and massive singalong choruses. It’s all here and it’s all a blast.
It doesn’t get any simpler then this. Forget all your convoluted subgenres and crossovers, this is heavy fucking metal.
