EP Review: Imperial Tide – Existence In Crisis (Mascot Records)
Hardcore five-piece Imperial Ride will release their brand-new EP ‘Existence in Crisis,’ on August 18th via Mascot Records.
Stompy and grim hardcore sounds with a metallic edge and punk spirit, Imperial Tide are not messing around with this new EP. It’s manic from the word go, which just so happens to be the stupidly vigorous King of The Gutter. If you want to feel like you’ve been in a deadly riot, just listen to this track and experience the coarse qualities of this band.
It doesn’t get any less abrasive with Off the Leash or Slip either, and then along comes to R.A.T to really make the wacked out side and crowd killing aspect of this record really prominent. Imperial Tide utilise effects in unusual ways, but are truly uncompromising when it comes to breakdowns.
Case in point, Blood on the Streets which might be the most metal-orientated track of the EP, but it is expressed in ways that leave you feeling off-balance and excited. It’s absolute carnage here and right through to Malice in the Palace. Where thick riffs, garish vocals, and sharp hooks entertain in charmingly brutal ways.
