EP Review: I Am Pariah – Procreate//Annihilate (Self Released)
I Am Pariah are a powerful three piece Metal band from Stoke-on-Trent charged by undeniable grooves, huge riffs, anthemic tunes and this November they release their sophomore EP.
Titled ‘Procreate//Annihilate’, this new collection of songs is a catharsis to the frustrations of modern times and a personal reflection as to where we are as a human race and the need to do better.
“Procreate//Annihilate was a title we came up with when we sat down and discussed the four short stories we had written. We saw it painted an overall picture that many people are born to destroy, nasty one-sided individuals, misologists in every way.
The EP title is relevant to what’s going on around us. Nowadays it seems some people are brought up with no respect for anyone or anything, and the only thing they do is cause misery to the ones that surround them. It also symbolises the way in which young adults are conscripted to war for unnecessary gains, a life of violence with no reprieve.” – I Am Pariah
Anthemic is the right word to describe this four-track EP from I Am Pariah. It’s four tracks of bouncy and fast metal dripping in attitude with shades of punk and old-school rock. Kicking off with some thrashy riffs, the vocals spit fire as Heavy in Japan makes its mark before A Place to Belong showcases the power behind I Am Pariah’s guitars.
Surprisingly catchy, the high energy translates into music that you want to lose yourself in. Be part of Cult Society with its huge chorus and punk sensibilities and enjoy Big Shot firing on all cylinders! Such an enjoyable EP, it’s got everything you could want from modern metal.
