EP Review: Fracture Point – Act Of Malice (Self Released)

London based Fracture Point, formed in 2018, fuse old school thrash mentality, with groove and a twist of hardcore. On March 22nd, 2024, they will release their new EP, ‘Act of Malice’.

Thrash mixed with groove and hardcore? Yes f**king please.

It screams music you can go wild to, music with energy, and music that is infectious. Which is exactly what the opening track Malicious Intent delivers. Although, more hardcore aligned, there’s an ‘old-school’ metal flavour to Fracture Point’s instrumental rhythms and barbed vocals. It’s an immediate injection of adrenaline, urges you to get your stompy shoes on, and has an ending that is head-banging gold.

Bar set, Call to Arms comes next and proves to be an apt title as Fracture Point are insisting you step up and be counted. They just happen to be buoying the spirit with thrashy and groovy intent. Followed by the self-titled ‘epic’ that adds some melody to proceedings, but mainly finds the band at their heaviest sounding. The differing tempos and groovy rhythmic moments are what makes this one stand out.

Cast the First Stone is the next beastly offering, and it has some snarl to it. The hardcore beat is nice and gurny. Before One Bad Day wraps things up nicely with some real meaty intensity, Fracture Point really do mesh hardcore and metal together nicely, and the thrashy moments of flair always put a smile on the face. This finale is definitely one of the more creative tracks on the EP, which is pretty damn creative overall.
