EP Review: Foul Body Autopsy – Crucifix Dreams (Self Released)
Crucifix Dreams is the new release from Tom Reynolds’ Foul Body Autopsy, an EP focused around one new track, but made substantial via three classics taken from live performances. It will be released on Halloween, October 31st, 2023.
The focus track of this EP is Crucifix Dreams, of course, but for good reason. It’s a track that was written more than five years ago, and has finally found its place, thanks in part to a stellar cast of musicians. We’re talking about Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) on drums and Steve Di Giorgio (Testament) on bass, guitar solos provided by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) and Bobby Koelble (Death), and if that wasn’t enough, it has a spoken word intro from Simon Shaw (Temple of Lies).
Crucifix Dreams is a nasty, visceral, and violent song inspired by the horrific acts of serial killer John George Haigh, known as the Acid Bath Murderer. The disconcerting spoken word introduction leads to a garish explosion of grim and guttural death metal. The talent involved turning this into one of the more horrifying releases from Foul Body Autopsy. Which is saying a lot, as Tom Reynolds’ project isn’t known for anything but horrifying heaviness.
For this track alone, Crucifix Dreams is a must listen, but fans also get the treat of hearing three bloody live cuts too. Namely Synthetic Existence, Born Into A Manmade Hell, and Left to Rot. Where you can smell the sweat, taste the blood, and feel the twisted power coming through strongly.
