EP Review: Fangs Out – Curse Words (Self Released)
Fangs Out are a 4-piece hardcore band from the West Midlands in the UK formed at the tail end of 2018. Since their inception they have been writing relentlessly and are now ready to share their “new gutter blues” with the world.
Having released their first single ’86 Death Cult Classic’ in February they have recently just released their debut 4 track EP ‘Curse Words’ at the start of April.
A pretty sensitive and uneven style of hardcore that has the desperate heaviness of the genre with a bit more groove to the guitars, Fangs Out are an enthusiastic bunch. Taking from both the old and new schools of hardcore, there is plenty of vigour in the four tracks (Especially the excellent 86 Death Cult Classic).
However, the melodic moments and aforementioned groove is what really makes Curse Words an EP to remember. Turning what is just hardcore power into something truly remarkable. There’s a chunkiness to the riffs that’s pretty notable.
