EP Review: Dwelled – Suffering Heritage (Self Released)
Brit Northwest contemporary metallers Dwelled will release their much-anticipated debut EP, ‘Suffering Heritage’, on December 6th, 2024.
Now that’s how you start a record off. Dwelled announcing their arrival with an utterly destructive combination of instruments and vocals via Spineless. The roar will send shivers through you, as the track then transforms into a lively anthemic deathcore-infused bout of crushing intensity. Two-minutes of devastating heaviness that will have most listeners begging for more.
More than comes in the form of Ripped Apart, Dwelled unleashing even more feral aspects of their sound. Causing the heart to pound, the stomach to churn, and the head to ache through the sheer ferocity of their riffs and roars. Followed then by Echoes, where it’s the drums that stand out more than anything else here, being hit as though they’ve wronged Dwelled.
The intensity doesn’t let up for a second, so be warned. Dwelled’s intentions are to leave every single person seeing stars and that is further emphasised by the rampaging Otherside and the savage Suffer (which has a bit more harmony to it). Broken record or not, it bears repeating again, this is a heavy listen and one that has more than enough variety to be engaging right up to the end. Especially as Dwelled have a short and sharp approach, crashing out with one last beastly effort called Rivers of Regret. Awesome stuff that leaves the head spinning.
