EP Review: Dominicide – The Architecture Of Oppression (Self Released)
Dominicide are a four-piece tech death/thrash band from Glasgow, Scotland. Reinvented and recast in 2020, the band will be releasing their EP, “The Architecture of Oppression” on the 10th September 2021.
Dominicide start their new EP off in blistering style and quickly take the breath away with scorching displays of metal ferocity and technicality. A head-banger and more, The Empowered is wild but littered with touches that step it up from your average hyperactive death metal listen. Those touches, such as the furious drumming or frantic slices of guitar shredding, make for a kickass start.
Expanding with The Orchestraitors, the eerie effects at the start, build with the instruments to a feral expulsion of noise. The vocals are demonic here, impressively matching the speed of the instruments.
Theocracy takes that speed and adds an injection of fuel to make things sound even wilder and more chaotic. You wouldn’t think such a thing was possible but here we are and it’s pure head-banging gold. Which does mean the finale of Reincarnate comes with some sadness.
Sadness because the EP is coming to an end, though it’s hardly surprising that Dominicide go out with a massive bang. Meaty metal noise that encourages you to deliver your own personal brand of chaos, regardless of where you are. On a train? That’s just more people for the pit! At work? HR will surely love to get involved! At a Dominicide gig? You know exactly what to do and if you don’t, just watch everyone else and you’ll get it.
