EP Review: DÖ – Black Hole Mass (Döömernaut Records)
Black Hole Mass is the new EP from Helsinki based psychedelic blackened doom trio DÖ. The album which is the first release with the new guitarist Teröid, has a theme of dark cosmic mass that praises the almighty astral forces with three rituals performed by the astral death cult.
It will be released on November 13th 2020 via Döömernaut Records.
The band says:
For us, writing Black Hole Mass was a passage ritual to another level of consciousness. Teröid’s style of playing, writing songs and using effect pedals brought whole new vibes to our doing and has already taken us to more experimental expression that we will explore even further in the future. The power of Cosmos compels us more than ever before!
Those familiar with DÖ will find themselves at home with their brand of spacey, trippy and cosmically challenging doom. Black Hole Mass is the band trying new and interesting things while keeping themselves rooted in the heaviest of matter. The fuzziness, the echoing effects and the constant rumble of noise that fortifies every moment. It will set your teeth on edge while also being an undeniable headbanger of an EP.
It’s brief but careening trip created by the doom-mongers. An introduction to their new member, a glimpse into what we might expect going forward and a reminder that few do cosmically charged metal as well as DÖ.
