EP Review: Cosmic Ninja – Dissident Transmission (Self Released)

Bristol-based alt/rock electro-punks Cosmic Ninja will release their forthcoming new EP, Dissident Transmission, on the 8th of April 2022.

A four-track blast of danceable and groovy alt-rock with electro-punk infusions, Cosmic Ninja are looking to electrify and do so with vigour, passion and delightful catchiness.

A major component of the enjoyability of this EP comes from choruses that you just want to sing along too. Case in point, the opening track, By Design which has punk fire warped by electro rock groove but absolute soars when it comes to the chorus.

Keeping the energy up, Lies’ battling vocal styles kicks all kinds of ass but it is the rocking rhythm, spitting pre-chorus and heartfelt singing that follows, that sticks in the mind. One hell of a hit and a tough task for Snake Eyes to follow but Cosmic Ninja go for it with a furore of groovy and danceable oomph.

Last but certainly not least, We Got Up really dives into the electronica-driven abilities of Cosmic Ninja to find them living up to the first part of their name. Once again, it’s pure energy-driven catchiness and fun which is the simplest way to describe the EP overall.

Pure energy-driven fun.
