EP Review: Concrete Caveman – War Behind Glass (Strange Mono Records)
Strange Mono Records will release Concrete Caveman’s latest EP, ‘War Behind Glass’, on November 15th, 2024. All the proceeds from digital and physical sales would go to benefit Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières.
What a kickass band Concrete Caveman is, betraying all extreme conventions to deliver something that doesn’t fit in one genre over another. Is it grindcore? Is it death metal? Is it punk? Is it hardcore? Or is it deathpunk? It really doesn’t matter, what it is, is noise that scythes its way through all the bulls**t of life until it’s right in front of you with all the menace of a wild animal.
Concrete Caveman insistence that you pay attention is made even more effective when you take into account the unrelenting force of the five tracks on offer here.
Each is furious, each is feral, and each has a very unique flavour. Highlights? It’s probably Blasted to Bits and the cacophony of savagery it showcases. Plus an intro that uses dialogue from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will always get a nod of approval over here.
It’s a showcase of extreme that just keeps on giving. The gurn gets deeper, the pounding in the temples gets louder, and the ache in the necks muscles grows in strength, all because Concrete Caveman are kicking so much ass on this new EP. Do you love the sound of extreme while not fully understanding the limits of a band’s creative extremities? Concrete Caveman’s War Behind Glass might be right up your street.
