EP Review: Cazimi – Signals (AWAL)
Acclaimed Brit quartet Cazimi throw down a gauntlet with their mesmerising new EP, Signals, which arrives via AWAL on Friday, 5th August.
The alt-rock crew have certainly been gaining traction and following the lengthy downtime forced by the pandemic and worldwide lockdowns, they return with renewed vigour and purpose. Signals blurs the line between melody and rock, revealing a uniquely interesting indie sound that Cazimi are in control of.
Four tracks, four examples of foot-tapping and head-nodding rhythms. Signals is a little eccentric, partially because of how Cazimi utilise melody and partially because it makes melancholic energy such a focal point. It’s not just memorable music, it’s infectious music.
There’s a lot of heart and soul in this EP, fascinating really, as EPs tend to be a short snapshot of things. Signals is exactly that. a snapshot of where Cazimi are right now but also how they’re making great strides going forward. It comes through strongly that Cazimi care about what comes through here. It resonates on a deeper and more meaningful level.
