EP Review: Bodysnatcher – Vile Conduct (MNRK Heavy)
US deathcore heavyweights Bodysnatcher will release their eagerly-anticipated EP, Vile Conduct, digitally on September 3rd, 2024, via MNRK Heavy.
Let’s f**king go! Bodysnatcher go extremely hard on this EP. Having grown in strength and become a much tighter unit with more elaborate song structures, all while still having a major focus on being brutally heavy. Something that is acutely obvious from the moment Infested brings the noise. Get used to thinking – “goodness, wasn’t that a brutally heavy track”, they’re all brutally heavy.
How about the grim Severed, where Bodysnatcher show off different tempos and create different levels of savagery? Or the more prominent hardcore features of Human Disdain? A crowd-killer of a track, and don’t forget about Confession, a 36-second voiceover recording that details a drug report, serving as an important intro for Murder8.
The most personal of tracks on the EP as its inspiration comes from the sobering fact that drummer Chris Whited lost his older brother and younger sister to fentanyl. A very meaningful subject matter that is put at the forefront of this aggressive and intense track. It leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind that this means a lot to them, and the absolute fire in their bellies is dangerously close to erupting throughout. That it also features the iconic Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed in a guest vocal spot is extra special too.
Say Goodbye is in the unenviable position of having to follow that track. However, it is the finale and it comes with some dark melody, thick atmosphere, and plenty of ruthless heaviness so proves to be as enjoyable as everything that came before. It, like the entire EP, goes f**king hard.
