A unique five-track EP that features two original tracks and three covers. It begins with one of the original offerings, the title track. Blue Eyes is a punchy and heady start to the EP, where Blanket combine their dreamy post-rock melody with alt-focused heavy rock intensity and throw in a chorus that has a touch of welcome poppiness to it.

I Fall Apart is the first of three covers in a row and sees the group having a go at the Post Malone hit. Delivering dramatic sounding melody. Before Palm Reader join them for an even more dramatic and moody cover of Radiohead’s Climbing Up the Walls. If you’re a fan of both Post Malone and Radiohead, you’re bound to quite like what Blanket do here.

Perhaps the most intriguing cover of all comes next and it comes from a movie. Called In The House, In A Heartbeat, it was composed by John Murphy and will be immediately familiar to fans of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. This specific piece was first used during the mansion rampage at the end of the first movie, but was used several times in the sequel, 28 Weeks Later. It’s an awesome piece of music by itself and Blanket don’t mess with it much. Using their instruments to convey the horror and dread in post-heavy style.

Finally, it’s the second of the two original tracks, Ghost Note. A wonderful encapsulation of who Blanket are. It’s dripping in emotion melody, mournful and soulful, but with layered authority. Blanket hold back to give the listener a more subtle performance, focusing on the dramatic but not quite following the expected formula. It’s a very pretty track.
