EP Review: Black Blood Invocation – Atavistic Offerings to the Sabbatic Goat (Helter Skelter/Regain Records)

Black Blood Invocation, a blackened death metal band will release ‘Atavistic Offerings to the Sabbatic Goat’ on March 12th 2018 via Helter Skelter and Regain Records. A two-track 7″ EP, it’s follow up to the self-titled 2017 demo released on 12″ vinyl.

Black Blood Invocation 2

Two tracks, two vile segments of raw darkness. There is no escaping the furious tone of Black Blood Invocation’s EP as it spits & roars for about 12 minutes. It is the kind of raw ruthlessness that is not going to appeal to many but those who scratch the service will find a fascinating pair of tracks.

Formed in 2015 by Nyogtha (also in Cult of Eibon & Hate Manifesto) & Xexanoth (also Goat Synagogue), Black Blood Invocation certainty put the horror in horrid with the title track delivering bleak blackened metal. Impious Liturgies to Baal Pt II then ups the tempo with hellish vocals & an unrelenting metal drive.

An EP that you have to be in the right mood to enjoy, that mood being one of hate & anger.
