EP Review: Aversio Humanitatis – Longing for the Untold (BlackSeed Productions)
Spanish black metal band, Aversio Humanitatis are back with their new EP, Longing for the Untold. A soundtrack filled with introspective reflections and tales revolving around nihilism, conscience and death. It was released on March 1st 2017 via BlackSeed Productions.
It’s a fiery start to this 4 track EP. An EP that is unashamedly black metal in both style & atmosphere. Forgoing melodic moments to just deliver crushing metal tracks, Aversio Humanitatis are a cut above the many other bands that exist in their genre.
Longing for the Untold is a furious start with dark riffs bleeding throughout & vocals that devastate the mind. For all its ‘expected’ style (you’re not hearing anything new here) it’s very exciting music. A lot of this is to do with the constant assault it delivers. Non-stop heavy with only short & small drops in tempo.
The 6+ minutes of Prison of Shattered Glass is a great example of how well Aversio Humanitatis do at keeping this pace interesting to hear.
The Ever Shifting Path is the weakest song of the 4. A drop away into an odd sounding effect coming across a bit pointless even if it is brief. The EP finishes off with Advent of the Inescapable. A haunting intro builds into a fantastic sounding beat that brings about as much brutality as you’ve come to expect from Aversio Humanitatis.
The drumming here is the best it’s been, fast & hard, it could potentially wake up the dead!
An great showing from Aversio Humanitatis & continued proof that black metal is stronger then ever.
