EP Review: Apollolyptic – Through Mud (Self Released)

Freshly raised from the sands and soil of North Yorkshire, Apollolyptic are a 4-piece thrash metal band that are hell-bent on making heads bang at every good metal venue across the UK, with their sights firmly locked on world domination. Their debut EP ‘Through Mud’ will be released on October 31st 2022.

Thrash with a twist. Thrash with groove. Apollolyptic combine old-school rawness with modern detail and depth. The opening title track, dealing with the effect depression has on relationships. A hefty and meaningful subject wrapped up in head-banging heaviness, groovy riffing, blistering soloing and powerful vocal statements. It’s a twisting and turning track that captures the imagination nicely.

Sticking to substantial subject matters, Liar deals with a son-father relationship collapsing to the point of no return. A brash head-banger that has plenty of gurning grimness to it, while also being delightfully addictive to listen to.

All that you need is a kick in the fucking teeth.

Words that everyone can relate too.

Whereas the first two tracks dealt with more tangible and modern issues, The finale of Gunslinger is inspired by the harsh days of the Wild West. Bringing with it, dangerous intensity and galloping heaviness. The pacey energy exemplified by the jabbing guitars and snarling vocals. Another track that ensures a wild bout of head-banging will ensue.
