I do love a release that manages to grab my attention almost immediately, which is something Carousel does. ANIIMALIA coming out of the starting blocks with a chaotic burst of punky sounding instruments, before revealing the depth to their alt-rock sound. Who’s Gonna Stop Me has a peppy pace, noisy sounding instruments, and vocals that exude power. The highlight being a chorus that is such a singalong.

Attention got, now it’s about keeping it focused on them, and with Hurt Me Back and Puppeteer, ANIIMALIA do the job resoundingly well. The former is a grungier sounding effort with some impressive background ambience, whereas the latter is a delightful blend of pop and rock, with strong underlying groove throughout.

The EP, capped off with Doom, and ANIIMALIA doing a fantastic job of balancing moody vibes with essential catchiness. The guitars might be the star of this particular show.
