EP Review: All Involved – The Enemy Within (Self Released)
A six-piece modern metal band based in London, UK, All Involved will release their debut EP, ‘The Enemy Within’ on November 15th, 2024.
Fresh heavy metal from London, and it comes with an attention-grabbing modern twist, All Involved are looking to leave an impression with this EP, and it is fair to say that their mission is completed come the end. Mainly because there’s enough interesting ideas within the four tracks, but also because they’re not afraid to blend genres, sometimes in the same track.
It is this creative take that makes opener Euphoria notable as All Involved go from rampaging groove-infused heaviness that has a melodeath flavour to a richer melodically charged effort that leans to more a progressive style of metal. Then there is Fork in the Road, with punchy instrumentals, clean and harsh vocals that work well together, and some cinematic touches. Before Collide (Enemy Within) showcases a much stronger style of moody melody that has shades of old-school alternative metal about it.
It’s a bit all over the place, but that seems to be because All Involved want to show off everything they can do. Something made abundantly clear by the finale of Confronting Fire, which begins in grand cinematic style, transforms into a heavier beast, then eases into a more melodic style, before hitting the heavier notes again to add even more richness to the overall sound. It’s not the most elaborate of tracks, but it is the most well put together.
You have our attention now, All Involved.
