EP Review: Adversary – None Will Mourn (Blindsided Records)
Dutch band Adversary create a unique and aggressive blend of hardcore and death metal and they are ready to show the world the 8-track debut EP ‘None Will Mourn’. Set to be released through Blindsided Records on February 22nd, 2022.
Belligerent is the word. Adversary are a snarling bunch of malcontents combining hardcore energy with death metal ferocity to craft an EP that slams you right in the face.
Kicking things off with the methodical and well-crafted aggression of Exordium, it’s the following Insurgence that shows off Adversary’s wildness. The band going from 0-11 in an instant and creating a stomping and gurning soundtrack of fury.
The urge to head-bang to this noise is indisputable with Killing Fields delivering a crunchy hit of death metal and Retaliate showcasing spirited hardcore bedlam. Both tracks are pure pit-fillers, just watch out for a flying forearm or spin-kicking leg.
No complaints to be had about the fiery tempo of Void, where Adversary smash skulls in just under 2 minutes. Or the beastly heaviness of the title track and Rude Awakening’s absolute meltdown. Constantly vicious, lethally heavy, and reliably intense, it’s a shame that with Laid to Rest, the EP comes to an end. One last blast to help turn your neck muscles into dust.
Sometimes all you need is something that rages and rages hard. If that is what you’re after then None Will Mourn will deliver.
