Demo Review: Warp Chamber – Abdication of the Mind (Redefining Darkness Records)
Warp Chamber is a death metal band from the United States that draws influence from early Suffocation, Morbid Angel, and Demilich. As the band work on the completion of their debut album, Abdication of the Mind is a taste of what is to come from this extremely promising U.S. death metal act. It will be released on December 7th 2018 via Redefining Darkness Records.
A nightmarish level of heaviness is what greets us on the two tracks that make up this demo. Both are raging numbers with guttural vocals, screeching guitars and skull-cracking drums filling every inch. It’s death metal and with that comes expectation, expectation that Warp Chamber are happy to be challenged with. For all its familiar style, there is plenty here to get excited about.
The twisting and turning of the title track keeps things fresh and interesting. With the squealing feedback doing an absolute number on the mind. It all leads to an absolutely crushing and thumping finale that really sees Warp Chamber draw a line in the sand.
Harvesting the Life Force of A Crumbling Orb follows on with an even more gut-troubling level of heavy all but confirming Warp Chamber as a death metal act to be watching very closely. A whole album of this? Wow.
