Demo Review: Sepolcro – Undead Abyss (Unholy Domain Records)
Italian death metal band, Sepolcro return with a new demo called Undead Abyss. Three old-school rotten death metal tracks for fans of bands like Disma, Mortician, Incantation, Phlegm and Rottrevore. The demo is coming out via Unholy Domain Records on May 15th 2018.
Delivering a bitter & twisted metal assault, the three tracks that make up Undead Abyss are feral in nature and covered in a grimy layer of dirt & dust. Old-school sounding but with a clean production (something that betrays the demo tag), the title track alternates between bursts of vomit inducing death and lower tempo filth.
The opening of Bone Totem reaches doomy levels of heaviness before increasing in pace. The old school bile that are the vocals mixed with the fantastic guitar rhythm makes this a track to be remembered.
After showing a more inventive side you could be forgiven for thinking Sepolcro would just sit back & play it safe for the final track. That’s not the case though, instead we get a 2 minute track that gets the head-banging going with a thumping beat before the pace increases into a wild & furious number.
A frantic finale ends things in style leaving you with just one option, to repeat the demo again and again.
