Comic Book Review: The Insatiable Necrosexual #1 (The Necrosexual/Ben Fidler)

Heavy metal cult character The Necrosexual unveils his first-ever graphic novel The Insatiable Necrosexual #1, available for purchase on April 30th.

This 30-page full colour comic book follows The Necrosexual and his bandmates on their misadventures, with tasteful smatterings of blood, guts, spooky puns and drug addled humor. The Insatiable Necrosexual #1 is illustrated by artist Ben Fidler (ToxicDrawsIt) and features an original story penned by The Necrosexual himself, “inspired by mostly trve events.”

It might be the The Necrosexual’s first foray onto the printed page, but 2022 marks the 10-year anniversary for “The Joan Rivers Of Black Metal”, who earned his reputation interviewing legendary metal figures on his YouTube channel since 2012, and his rambunctious live performances that blend comedy, burlesque, and original live music.

The Insatiable Necrosexual #1 picks up after the Grim-1’s 2021 album Seeds Of Seduction (Folkvangr Records).

I’ve grown quite attached to The Necrosexual over the past few years. Enjoying both the antics and the music, so it was with great joy that I got my hands around his latest meaty offering. This comic book… of course. Where the vivid and cartoonish art style slams head-first into The Necrosexual’s tongue in cheek humour.

There are pages and pages of absurd jokes (boxed wine served at room temperature?) brought to life by fantastic artwork. In particular, the imagery on the full page spreads is so very impressive.

It’s as silly, outrageous and offensive as you could hope it to be. After all, The Necrosexual is the most ELECTRIFYING band in corpse entertainment. Let’s hope we get to swallow another load soon.
