Christmas Horror Short Review: Ugly Christmas Sweater (2023)

It should come as no surprise to most that ACMofficial have knocked out a fair few festive horror shorts over the years, with middling results. Until now, where a comedic take turns Ugly Christmas Sweater into a thoroughly enjoyable watch.

As always, the short comes from writer/director Alex Magaña and stars Juliette Cecile and Becky Bush as two friends who are exchanging gifts on Christmas. It turns out they bought each other something similar, an ugly Christmas sweater, and from the same shop. Their reaction to this coincidence is both adorable and hilarious.

Of course, they’ve got to try them on, and it’s from here that the horror starts. These ugly Christmas sweaters are to die for.

Outstanding and one of the best festive shorts that ACMofficial have created, not just for the silly concept and how it plays out, but because of how a simple idea can be transformed into something so enjoyable. The cherry on top of this Christmas cake? The acting. Juliette Cecile and Becky Bush are fantastic. This is one well worth checking out.
