Christmas Horror Short Review: Sleigh (2020)
From writer and director Adam Neeson comes Sleigh! A festive horror short to send a chill down your stockings.
Starring Gary Whelan and Christopher McDonnell, it’s Christmas Eve and Noel hears a strange noise coming from his living room. When he goes to look, he finds a mask wearing, Santa-suit clad stranger standing in the middle of the room. It also happens to be holding a present to Noel which is from his mother.
Noel is unsurprisingly freaked out and demands the person leave but the invading Santa pulls a knife out instead. Want to know what happens next? Check it out below.
Yeah, this one isn’t very good. The story is just ok even though it doesn’t go where you might expect it too. It doesn’t seem to know just what it wants to be as over a couple of minutes, it changes several times. From an invader, to some sort of creature transformation, to something more sinister and back again. Odd, very odd.
Its biggest problem is that it looks, sounds and feels very cheap. You don’t have to have much of a budget to make a quality short but this one looks like next to nothing was spent. That sounds harsh, after all, it’s an indie flick. We can forgive that provided it makes up for it in other areas which Sleigh doesn’t.
