Christmas Horror Short Review: Silent Night (2021)

Written, directed and edited by Lawrence Geller, Silent Night is a solid and atmospheric festive horror short with just a touch of creativity in how it is shot.

Lawrence Geller stars as Zack, it’s Christmas and he is playing a video game in his bedroom when he hears a noise from downstairs. Heading down to investigate, all while a dark and ominous version of Silent Night plays, he comes across Krampus (Peterson Duff) waiting for him.

Seemingly entranced by the creature, Zack is offered a present and opens it right there and then. What is inside? You’ll have to check it out yourself below to find out.

At barely two minutes long, there’s not a lot of meat to the bones of this short, but credit to Lawrence Geller for managing to infuse a creepy sense of atmosphere and a strong festive feel into it. It’s Christmas, but it’s a dark Christmas, and that comes through even on a shoe-string budget. It’s not going to change the world and will be promptly forgotten about after the holidays, but it’s decent enough to be worth checking out.
