Christmas Horror Short Review: Merry Christmas (2021)

It wouldn’t be Christmas without an ACMofficial festive horror short and Merry Christmas certainly delivers on the promise of gleeful festive frights.

Written and directed by Alex Magaña, alongside co-writer Jed Brian, Merry Christmas is a very simple and straightforward horror short. One that sees a couple, Christina (Marta Castellví) and Diego (Diego Paz), preparing for a festive trip away from home. The former wants to take down their Christmas tree now so they don’t have to deal with it when they get back.

The tree has a different idea.

This is a fun one from ACMofficial and kept nice and tight with a short run time. The festive visuals, the unnerving tree movements, and the payoff is all very satisfying. Not exactly scary but with a tongue in cheek creep factor that entertains.
