There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.

Them Bloody Kids

Winning the hotly contested London Metal 2 the Masses, Them Bloody Kids are one of the ‘dark horses’ of the entire festival. Playing a brand of alternative metal that blurs the lines between sub-genres, they create anthemic bangers that even the most stubborn of heavy metalheads can mosh to.

The London four-piece band are well respected and well loved in the scene, not just as a strong metal band, but as a supporter of the scene and one of the most hardworking in it. It’s why their live show is often lauded over just about everything else they do. Hear Them Bloody Kids on record and like what they do, but see Them Bloody Kids live and that’s when you fall in love.

Releasing ‘The Angel’ EP in 2019 to praise, it was their 2021 debut album (which featured all the tracks from The Angel EP), ‘Radical Animals’ that really turned heads. Including ours, stating in our review that:

We’re looking at future superstars here. Even if the blend of frantic riff work, nu-metal groove, punk spirit and massive shout-along choruses does little for you personally, it’s very easy to see the mass appeal that Radical Animals will have.

It’s quite something to see their popularity continue to rise and rise since its release, and they have worked hard to take the songs from that album and make them sound even more necessary live. All while sporadically releasing new material like ‘Help Me’ and ‘Knocked Down’.

Considering this was the third time they competed in the Metal 2 the Masses, you can’t say Them Bloody Kids haven’t earned it, and expectations are on them creating some of the most long-lasting memories of the entire festival. This will be special, and the New Blood stage on the Saturday of the festival will play host. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to Them Bloody Kids about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.

Playing Bloodstock any year would of course be a dream come true, but with this year being the third year we have competed in Metal 2 The Masses, 2024 just feels right. A lot of hard work has culminated into us heading to Bloodstock in August, so have faith that we’re bringing everything we have to the stage. Expect stoner doom-edged rock riffs, world-influenced groovy nu-metal rhythms, catchy hooks, and plentiful opportunities for moshing. We’ve also been working on a few surprises for the big day that we can’t discuss just yet… Just make sure you get down to the New Blood stage on Saturday and enjoy the ride.
