There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.

The Gallowgate Murders

Bloodstockers! Are you prepared to get your body moving and your head banging to the sound of heavy punk and rock blended with traditional Celtic tunes? If the answer to that is yes, then you’re in for a treat with The Gallowgate Murders, a five-piece Celtic punk group who formed in Edinburgh in 2019.

Now, you might be thinking that you’ve heard plenty of bands in this vein before, but what makes The Gallowgate Murders stand out (aside from the duelling vocals) is that they come from the heavier and faster side of this kind of music. Putting it simply, they want to make you move, and a ton of people were more than happy to join in on the fun with their debut single, ‘Wreck Head Wedding’ in 2020. Seriously, the streams this track has had to date will make your head spin.

It’s the kind of numbers that gets attention, and alongside another single called ‘Laoghaire’, it helped catapult them to great heights resulting in The Gallowgate Murders hitting the road and going on a bit of tear across the country before and after the COVID period.

Only the Bastards, another lovable slice of Celtic punk and rock, arrived in 2022 alongside the much-anticipated debut EP, ‘Dead, Gone and Living On’. If there was any doubt about The Gallowgate Murders staying power, the popularity of this EP put that to bed. They are here to stay, their shows are getting stronger, and their fanbase even louder.

It’s been a strong 2024 for The Gallowgate Murders already. Playing shows galore, hitting up Takeover at Download, planning new music and a nationwide tour in the Autumn. Before that though, it’s Bloodstock and you better have your dancing shoes on.

It’s going to be one hell of a drunken party on the EMP stage on the Sunday of the festival. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to The Gallowgate Murders about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.

This year has been a big one for us. We are still riding the high from playing Download at the start of our summer run and to finish it up at Bloodstock festival on the final day is just absolutely amazing and has been a long goal for all members of the band. This is a festival we attend every year and the energy levels are gunna be high!

The crowd can expect Irish and Scottish trad thrown in the mix with Punk, rock and heavy ass rhythm. We’re bringing the party so you bring the beers.
