There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.
Stone Soup
All festivals need variety, and Bloodstock is no different, although that’s not to suggest that Stone Soup don’t belong on any metal bill around the world, because they do. It just so happens that the five-piece from Farnborough, Hampshire, are more associated with the sound of vintage hard rock, blended with blues, stoner, metal, grunge and 70’s prog.
There’s a lot going on, but it’s made them stand out and helped them make their way through the Oxford Metal 2 the Masses and win the damn thing this year (after making it to the final last year). A mightily impressive feat for a band that has been around since 2017, with several of those years curtailed by COVID.
They released their self-titled album in 2018, impressing many people with their addictively riffy ways. Taking the head banging show on the road across London and the South-East of the UK. Then, along comes COIVD, but Stone Soup didn’t let that stop them and once they could, they were back on the road and released their sophomore album, ‘Disillusioned’ in 2023.
A step forward in almost every department, the years of experience showcased the creative skills of Stone Soup and proved that there was no end to their ambition. It is a banger album, but that’s two for two for Stone Soup, and their ambitions guarantee new music in the future. As well as even more shows around the country and, hopefully, even further afield.
They have the tunes, they have the experience, and they have the stage presence to give every other band on the bill a run for their money. It’s going to be great and the New Blood stage at Bloodstock on the Saturday is where it’s at. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to Stone Soup about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.
It’s a massive honour, we are so stoked to be sharing the stage with so many amazing bands. Bloodstock is like no other festival we have ever been to, it quite simply is the best on so many levels, the music, the atmosphere and the people just make it the highlight of the festival calendar.
Attendees can expect beach balls and other inflatables!! As well as a load of energy, a fuzzy brain hat and a whole load of harmonica!
