There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.

Crowley

A little bit of retro occult rock is always welcome at a place like Bloodstock, and leading the modern charge of this kind of sound is the Newcastle upon Tyne band, Crowley.

Listening to them, tracks like ‘The Witching Hour’, ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’, ‘Pyre’, and most recently, ‘Hell Hath No Fury’, you could be led to believe that Crowley are ten years deep into their hard rock careers, but you’d be wrong. Incredibly, this band only formed in 2022 and here they stand already.

Aiming to reinvigorate the sounds of retro pagan rock through classic rock roots and a fascination with the occult. Gothic and groovy, deliciously wicked and infectious, few will find the Crowley spell easy to resist. Especially as their live show has been garnering praise all across the country and they’ve wowed crowds at festivals like Call of the Wild and Maid of Stone.

Bloodstock is calling now though and on the Friday of the festival on the EMP stage, we can all experience the entrancing nature of a Crowley live show. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to Crowley about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.

We honestly can’t wait to play Bloodstock this year! It is no doubt the best metal festival in the UK and for CROWLEY to be among a line-up of bands like Green Lung, Carcass, Clutch, Beast in Black and Amon Amarth – it’s massive for us. We all had tickets to go this year anyway so to actually be playing it is wild! So, if you know anyone who wants to buy 5 weekend tickets that’d be cool?

Getting booked for Bloodstock is a huge nod to the amount of hard graft we’ve done in the last two years. Recording, releasing and touring around the country with your mates is so much fun but when you get a booking like Bloodstock it’s kind of like, okay, wow, this is working! It will be our biggest gig so far and we can’t wait to welcome you all to the CROWLEY coven.

Expect seventies-inspired occult rock, mixed with a bit of doom, lots of riffs, some screaming, flares, velvet and BIG sleeves. For fans of Green Lung, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Halestorm and Fleetwood Mac.
